New Zealand–Ireland research call opens to accelerate agricultural emissions solutions
Researchers from New Zealand and Ireland are invited to apply for funding through the latest Agriculture and Climate Joint Research & Technology Initiative.
The joint call, supported by New Zealand's Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and Ireland's Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), aims to strengthen international collaboration and accelerate practical solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from pastoral livestock systems.
Building on the success of the first phase of the partnership, the 2026 call focuses on understanding, quantifying and evaluating the cumulative impact of greenhouse gas mitigation approaches in bovine production systems over a full production cycle.
Projects are expected to deliver outcomes that support agricultural greenhouse gas reduction while maintaining productive and competitive farm systems. The call is open to eligible research organisations in both countries and requires joint leadership from New Zealand and Irish partners.
Further information, including eligibility requirements and application details, is available through MPI and DAFM, and HERE.
