The 2026 Call for Proposals under the Ireland–New Zealand Agriculture and Climate Joint Research and Technology Initiative opened on 30 June 2026.

The 2026 Call for Proposals invites eligible Research Performing Organisations (RPOs) in New Zealand and Ireland to submit collaborative research proposals focused on reducing agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The initiative is funded by the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) in collaboration with the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), to support research that addresses shared challenges in pasture-based livestock systems while strengthening scientific collaboration between the two countries.

The Ag Emissions Centre is proud to support New Zealand's engagement in the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA), helping to strengthen international research partnerships that accelerate practical, science-based solutions for reducing agricultural emissions.

Call mission

Proposals submitted under the 2026 Call should address the following mission:

"Understand, quantify and evaluate the cumulative impact, interactions and implementation potential of greenhouse gas mitigations, including bundled or stacked mitigation approaches, in a pastoral bovine system over a full production cycle."
