Mark Lieffering is a Senior Science Advisor at the Ag Emissions Centre with extensive experience in agricultural science, climate change, and greenhouse gas mitigation. He has held senior roles across research, policy, and leadership, including at AgResearch and the Ministry for Primary Industries, where he contributed to national GHG inventory development.
His expertise spans pasture ecosystems, climate adaptation, carbon and nitrogen footprints, and bioenergy systems. Mark has led multidisciplinary teams, advised on research funding, and is published widely. He holds a PhD in Agronomy from Lincoln University and has international research and university teaching experience in Japan.
